International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) (France)
Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ)
Cervical Cancer Prevention Program in Zambia (CCPPZ)

Health system impact

Health workforce: 7 nurses were certified in portable colposcopy and telemedicine; 1 nurse was certified in telemedicine.

Service delivery: 54 women screened using VIA, HPV-DNA testing and the portable colposcope and received telemedicine consultations. An additional colposcopy room was set up at Kanyama 1st Level Hospital which includes full VIA and colposcopy facilities. A GeneXpert machine has been installed at the clinic to provide point-of-care HPV and STI testing, particularly important given the geographical location of the clinic.

Governance: Protocol and tools for a cost effectiveness analysis have been developed and are under review. This component is crucial for the long-term implementation of results of this project. It will provide essential information for cervical screening costing in the national policy.
